A fragment of Roman floor tile with a finger-mark impression. Length: 137.5mm; width: 116.5mm; thickness: 40.0mm; weight: 812g. A surface find, it was found in association with Roman ceramic building material consisting of unclassified (Roman) tile, box-flue tile, tegulae and tesserae. The floor tile was discovered where the grassland had been disturbed during the very wet conditions at the 2008 Isle of Wight ‘Bestival’ musical event. The find-spot is very close to the site of Combley Roman Villa. Another 12 fragments found 29/01/2009.

A fragment of a Roman tile with a maker's mark: 'R'. Length: 198.0mm; width: 145mm; thickness: 33.0mm; weight: 1468g. This fragment is probably from a lydion or pedalis tile although due to its thickness it is more likely to be part of a lydion. The mark has been made using the finger. This tile was discovered where the grassland had been disturbed during the very wet conditions at the 2008 Isle of Wight 'Bestival' musical event. The find-spot is very close to the site of Combley Roman Villa. Another tile fragment bearing a letter 'R' has also been recorded …

The fragment is sub-triangular in plan and rectangular in cross-section. The flat edge has a finished surface and the core is grey.
Length: 228.0mm; width: 143.0mm; thickness: 77.0mm. Weight: c. 2539.0g. (post-room scales).
Surface find in the Inter-tidal zone.
