A cast copper alloy chain swivel loop of Medieval to Post-Medieval date (c. AD 1200 – c. AD 1700). Diameter: 22mm. Weight: 4.54g.
The loop is slender at the base and widens towards a circular bezel-like feature. The outer circumferential edge of the loop is knobbly or denticulated. The bezel-like feature has a circular perforation, 5mm in diameter and its upper face has four evenly spaced knobs. The bezel-like feature has a sub-oval perforation, 8.7mm in length and 6.2mm in width. This perforation accommodated an elongated loop which would have been attached to a chain (now missing).
