A post-Medieval copper-alloy handle (finger-loop) from a saucer-type candle holder or chamber stick (c. 1700-c. 1900).
This object is in the form of a loop which is sub-rectangular in cross-section, a thumb-rest and a bracket.
With the forefinger through the loop (outer diameter: 23.7mm) and the thumb resting on the oval flat plate (16.3mm x 9.1mm), the short projection comfortably rests against the second finger. The hoop has a width of about 4.5mm and a thickness of about 1.8mm. Both faces are slightly convex. An incomplete Medieval to post-Medieval copper-alloy (latten) Bunsen type candlestick (c. 1450-c. 1550).
Two parts of this candlestick were found close together. The base and part of the stem are missing.
One part is the remains of a drip-tray which holds part of a separate hollow stem. The other part is a cup in which a candle was inserted.
Both parts bear a similar dark green patina and both are corroded in places. The breaks are old. The stick has been made in two parts: a hollow central stem which fits into a central soclet of the disc base. The stem has moulded decoration,…

An incomplete Medieval copper-alloy folding candlestick or candle holder (c. 1100-c. 1400).
This object is largely circular in cross-section with three lugs at the base. Close to the break at the top a baluster moulding has a plain collar immediately above and below. The moulding is decorated with spiralling grooves that form cross-hatching. Some of the grooves are shallow and not well defined. An incomplete Medieval zoomorphic possible candle stand (c. 1100-c. 1500).
This object is a flat base and when complete, had four integral legs. Due to breaks only two legs have survived and one is complete. Each surviving leg projects upwards and outwards to form the neck and head of an animal. Both heads and necks are roughly triangular in cross-section and have pointed snouts or beaks. The base is flat and each side is concave. At the centre there are the remains of an iron rivet or spike.

A cast copper-alloy object, possibly a foot from a Medieval candle stand (c. AD 1300-c 1500).
The foot is trefoil in plan, flat on the base and slightly concave on the upper face. A small projection is sub-rectangular in cross-section. There are file marks on each side of the projection.
This foot has a matt green patina and the break is abraded.

A Medieval adjustable and folding sheet copper-alloy candleholder (c. 1300-c. 1500).
This holder consists of five separate sheet copper-alloy elements soldered together. The cup that held the candle is sub-conical in form with its narrower end at the bottom. It has an overlapping vertical join. The rim is decorated with continuous oblique grooves. An incomplete post-Medieval cast copper-alloy candlestick holder (1530-1650 AD).
The cup is circular and hollow and decorated with two circumferential grooves close to the rim. The cup has parallel sides. Below the cup, the stem tapers to an angled collar below which there is a short length of stem with an irregular break.
The rim has a break and the outer surface has a dark green patina with some areas of corrosion. The breaks are old.

This object is cylindrical and barrel-shaped. It has a maximum outer diameter of 18.7mm and the inner diameter is 11.3mm. A rim, 5.4mm in depth, at one end has a beaded collar and the upper part has a finished flat surface. This part has a small dent. At the opposite end there is a plain flange with a depth of 3.1mm.
