An incomplete, pierced and possibly clipped post-Medieval silver eighth thistle merk of James VI of Scotland, (1567-1625), dated 1602 on coin. Obverse: [IACOBV]S.6.D.G.SCOTORVM; Crowned shield. Reverse: [REGEM IOVA] PROTEGIT; Crowned Thistle. Length: 16.0mm; width: 15.2mm. Weight: 0.58g. The coin is pierced with a circular hole, 2.7mm in diameter, at 1 o' clock on the obverse.
