An incomplete and corroded possible Roman copper-alloy artefact, possibly a snake-form finger-ring (AD 43-410). The object is in poor condition and this identification is based largely on the fact that the overlapping terminals appear to be an original feature and not the result of damage. The object consists of a sub-circular thick wire loop with overlapping terminals and is sub-circular in cross-section. The inside of the hoop is inscribed: 'virtu passeth Riches' in italic lettering (virtue surpasses riches). Long S's in passeth, short s in Riches, capital R in Riches. A fragment of a Medieval silver finger-ring (c. 1100-c. 1300). Treasure case no. 2019 T563. This fragment is flat and the edges taper. The front has a design consisting of a cross motif with a shorter line radiating from the centre of the cross in each quarter giving a saltire effect. A slightly misshapen Medieval gold finger-ring with a blue cabochon setting (c. 1300-c. 1400). Treasure case no. 2019 T339. The bezel and setting are hexagonal in plan and taper towards one of the shoulders. Both shoulders taper towards the hoop and each has three triangular bevels. The central of these bevels points upwards and the flanking bevels point downwards. The shoulders, including the portion beneath the bezel, may be hollow as breaks can be seen where the bezel joins the hoop and also at the edges of the shoulders. An almost complete post-Medieval gold finger-ring (c. 1750-c. 1800). The gem is incomplete. This finger-ring has a split hoop with a raised decorative curvilinear feature on each shoulder. Below the shoulders the hoop has two circumferential grooves on the external face. The base of the hoop has been stamped with the numeral '18' and another mark which is illegible. An incomplete Medieval silver-gilt iconographic prayer finger-ring depicting two of the wounds of Christ (c. 1400-c. 1500). Treasure case no. 2019 T14 (addenda to 2018 T194).
