A complete cast copper alloy spherical “crotal” bell of post-Medieval to Modern date (1770-1813). The sub-rectangular suspension loop at the top is about 13.0mm long, 14.2mm wide and 3.8mm thick and has a sub-rectangular aperture which is about 7.2 x 4.2mm. The curve of the bell continues under the loop aperture suggesting it was made using a detachable ‘sprue-piece’, this method was introduced in the 17th century. A complete cast metal clapper bell of probable Modern date. This animal bell has a 'D'-shaped suspension loop (13.8 x 12.7 x 5.6mm) with a circular hole, 4.6mm in diameter. At the top of the bell the diameter is about 27.0mm and the sides flare outwards to the lower rim which has a diameter of 49.2mm. The rim is bevelled on the outside. Just above the rim, there is a moulded maker's mark in the form of a shield containing the letters: S C or S G. Almost opposite this mark and also on the rim is a crudely engraved mark: I X I.
