A complete Late Mesolithic or Early Neolithic flint implement, probably a pick (c. 6500 BC-c. 3500 BC). This implement, made on an elongated pebble, is sub-triangular in plan and sub-circular in cross-section. About 60% of the cortex is retained and has multi-directional flake removals. The cortex at the front (first image) is pitted and battered indicating that it was also used as a hammerstone. The butt is slightly oblique and has several small removals. The point has cortex on one side and has been flaked on the opposite side. The back has a large natural fracture and is mainl…

Complete chert pick or adze of Late Mesolithic or Early Neolithic date (7000 BC - 3000 BC). Length 172mm, width 59mm and 45mm thick. Weight 472g. The implement is sub-triangular in cross-section and when viewed from the side, has a "hump-backed" appearance. It is possible that this implement was made from a water-worn chert "pebble". The cutting edge is formed by four abrupt, long parallel removals. There is "pitting" on one face and one edge at the butt end indicating that the implement has also been used as a hammer. Mid-brown colour overall.
