Greyish/off-white prehistoric flint implement in the form of a core which has been utilised as a hammer-stone. Length 92mm, width 64mm and 42mm thick. Weight 261.43g. Sub-triangular in cross-section at one end and tapering to a bi-facial point at the other end. The core has multiple knapping scars on two of the faces and also at the thicker end. The third face appears to have been formed by natural fracturing. Bruising along one edge is the result of the core being used as a hammer-stone. At the larger end a small area of cortex survives.

Neolithic or Bronze Age flint tool manufactured from a flake, hemispheroidal in form and sub-oval in plan. Length c.86mm, width c.70mm and c.36mm thick. Weight 229.93g. The ventral surface which is slightly convex is in the form of a bulb of percussion. A few small flakes have been detached from around the edge. The dorsal surface has been crudely knapped to form the dome-shape. Part of the side of the tool at the distal end of the dorsal surface has been knapped to form a steep edge. One section of this edge, about 20mm in length, is vertical and is more finely knapped than the remai…

The pick is generally sub-triangular in cross-section and has a flat rear face with transverse radiating ripples which indicates that the implement has been manufactured on a very large flake. The implement has been fashioned from a large naturally fractured flake. The natural fracture of one side of the implement is flat. The other side which is convex has an off-white coloured cortex. The two ends of this side as well as both of the sides have been crudely knapped to form what could be described as a scraper. Each of the faces has a roughly central longitudinal ridge which has been created by knapping transversely from each side towards the centre. Consequently, the implement is lozenge-shape in cross-section. However, one angle of the lozenge-shape has been substantially reduced by concentrated battering. One side of the butt end has been re-worked at a later date as this part has a lighter coloured patination. Viewing each…

The butt end, perhaps about half, of a flint axe of Neolithic date. Length 57mm, width 33mm and 18mm thick. Weight 40.34g. The butt end of the axe is rounded and the sides flare gently outwards towards the old break which is pointed oval-shape in cross-section. One side is largely occupied by a creamy coloured cortex. The flaked surfaces have a dark grey coloured patina and the break is similarly patinated, indicating perhaps, that the break is probab…

Incomplete "pick" or axe of Late Mesolithic or Early Neolithic date. Length 202mm, width 70mm and 52mm thick. Weight 826g. The pick which is made of chert has a flat butt and the tip of the cutting edge is broken and missing. The break appears to be recent. The pick has three faces and is largely sub-triangular in cross-section. One of the faces is a natural fracture. Other picks of similar form have been discovered in the Isle of Wight. However, most of these are made of flint rather than chert.
