A complete lithic implement of Unknown date and uncertain function.
This implement was found within the inter-tidal zone and has been made on an elongated flint pebble.
It is sub-rectangular in plan and irregular in cross-section. The surface has dark grey cortex with some off-white patches of cortex. One end has been knapped on one side to form a working surface and the removals are semi-abrupt, short and stepped. The opposite side at the same end has three removals which are parallel. Complete prehistoric flint implement, possibly a large scraper. Date unknown. Length 101mm, width 112mm and 27mm thick. Weight 288g.
The scraper is sub-triangular in plan and has been produced on a naturally fractured “lump”. The ventral surface is probably a natural fracture and the lump has been utilised and formed into a large scraper. The dorsal surface is mainly occupied by cortex which is “pitted”.
