A complete post-Medieval copper-alloy and gilded military button (1803-c. 1808). A button of the Newport Loyal Volunteers of the Isle of Wight. The button is circular in plan, convex at the front. At the front it has a crown over initial letters in copperplate style: N L V (Newport Loyal Volunteers). This button is reddish brown and traces of gilding can be seen at the front. Diameter: 15.0mm; overall thickness: 6.0mm. Weight: xxg. Compare with a similar button of the Newport Loyal Volunteers: IOW-850409.

An incomplete Roman copper-alloy sprung crossbar brooch (c. AD 100-200). The pin, most of the spring and the catch-plate are missing. This brooch has a central circular plate, 8.8mm in diameter. The centre of the plate has a circular cell filled with pale orange enamel. This central cell is encircled by another cell which is empty. The plate is flanked by a rounded cross bar at each end. A complete post-Medieval copper-alloy closed one-piece thimble (c. 1650-c. 1750). This thimble has straight tapering sides, a rounded top and a slightly thickened rim. The sides and top are covered in regularly-spaced sub-circular pits. The rim is plain and has a small dent. The inside is smooth. The thimble is drab green with traces of a dark green patina. A fragment of an Early-Medieval (Anglo-Saxon) copper-alloy small long brooch (c. 450-c. 550). This fragment is the foot which has a transverse break at the top. It is roughly lozenge-shaped in plan and terminates with a double lobe. At the front each lobe has a small circular pit as decoration. There is part of an off-centre catch-plate on the reverse. A fragment of a Roman copper-alloy Colchester derivative bow brooch (c. AD 43-120). This fragment is part of the bow. From a ragged break at the top, it tapers in width to a break at the bottom. At the top the width is 6.1mm and the width at the bottom is 1.6mm. The upper part has a longitudinal central ridge flanked by a groove on either side. The front is decorated with an engraved stylised flower head consisting of six petals interspersed with six sepals. There is a ‘star’ motif at the centre. A fragment of a post-Medieval copper-alloy openwork buckle (c. 1720-c. 1790). This fragment is one corner of the frame. It is moulded at the front and flat at the rear. The corner has a pair of conjoined ear-like features flanked by circular openings. Traces of a white metal coating can be seen in the crevices at the front.
