A copper-alloy mount, probably dating from the Early-Medieval to Medieval periods.
The mount has been bent, probably deliberately, into a (truncated) 'U shape'. The intact terminal takes the form of a heavily stylised, forward facing zoomorphic head, executed in low relief. A pair of triangles represents the ears and eyes respectively, while the flat areas are decorated with a number of transverse ridges with interspersing grooves.
