Above and below the loop is a perforation, bevelled as it enters the hollow element. To the sides of the loops is a maker's mark, 'I M' or 'W I', stamped in low relief within a rectangular recess. The link that conn…

A post-medieval fragment of twisted silver wire with thistle-shaped gilt finial, approximately 4.0 cm long. The object, which has been examined by a number of British Museum curators in different fields, is hard to place and no parallels have yet been found for it. The thistle-shaped terminal is reminiscent of those on late 15th Century silver spoons, but these lack the twisted wire. A tentative dating to the 16th Century is proposed here until further evidence comes to light.

A silver element of post-medieval (17th-century) date. It has a rounded terminal with central dot in silver and two prongs. It is crude and flat. The original function of this object is unclear; it is possibly from a dress pin of bodkin form although it is flat rather than quadrangular in section which would argue against this. It is perhaps part of a toilet set.

A silver hollow terminal element, made from sheet, with a globular finial at the base. There are three trilobed indentations at the attachment end. Below these is a pair of low ridged bands; there is punched and engraved feather-like decoration below. There is a logitudinal split in the object, more evident at the attachment end, testament to how it was constructed. The object has been squashed around its centre.
