A fragment of a silver sheet huntsman's whistle. The whistle is tapering in form and the widest end is broken and flattened. The slit on the top of the whistle is intact and there is an attached loop on the bottom. A maker's mark appears on the top of the whistle, perhaps DL in a shaped shield. The owner's initials underneath the mouthpiece are illegible. The whistle is probably 17th century and has parallels with a similar whistle in the Treasure Annual Report 1998-9, no.242 from West Sussex. The length is 30.78mm and the width is 13.6mm.

Silver dress hook, cast in the form of a scallop shell. At the base of the shell is a recurving hook for attachment; opposite this, a small attachment loop on the edge of the shell, two further loops at the base of the hook. Reverse plain. Length: 2.9mm. 15th-16thCentury. The hook is in one plane, and can be compared with similar dress hooks cast in copper-alloy. Silver versions appear to be relatively rare survivals. This hook may be a precursor of the more familiar type of hook reported through the Treasure Act, which is in two planes and has both hook and bar attachment. The scallo…

Silver button comprising domed upper part made from sheet with milled edge and stamped central decoration of a flowerhead; shank applied on centre at back. Form, facture and decoration suggest a 17th century dating. However this may be all that remains of a pair of cufflinks which would date this object much later, to the late 17th or even early 18th century (see 2006 T459).
