Dress fitting assembled from elements of silver sheet. Cylindrical backplate, pinked edges, with cut out at the base, with remains of recurving hook soldered at the top. The front made in four sections, the three lower panels decorated with filigree spirals and knops, divided by cable ornament. Traces of gilding. Approx. 2 cm long. 16th Century.

Triangular dress-hook; cusped backplate applied with recurving hook (broken) , attachment bar missing. On the front three hemispheres with filigree roundels and central knops; at the centre a pin with shank attaching it to the backplate, with small pierced circle of silver in form of a flowerhead which fits in middle of the dress fitting. The shank is damaged and the flower-head element is loose; it would originally have been attached to the shank by a domed-headed pin. Approx. 2.9 cm in length. 16th Century, English.

Silver-gilt silver dress tag, of openwork construction, cast in one plane with trapezoidal bar developing from central floral garland enclosing a heart (?). Gilt. Hook previously soldered onto reverse at lower edge now missing. 16mm long. 15th-16th Century. Similar in type to the dress tag from Martyr Worthy, Hampshire, for which see David Gaimster et al, "Tudor silver-gilt dress hooks", Antiquaries Journal 2003, p.168, fog.11.

Circular dress hook, round face with pinked and raised border, design of two initials, probably T A, in Lombardic script flanking a heart beneath a flower-head. Recurving hook on the back has been broken perhaps in an attempt to straighten it but the form of the hook suggests that it was originally bent in an s-shape, which, with the round shape of the front would suggest that this was a cap-hook. Report on fragment of a post-medieval dress hook Part of a silver wire dress hook comprising large loop scrolling into two smaller loops for attachment, joined by fragmentary plate with filigree decoration. 16th- 17th Century. A similar hook from Ipswich is reported through the Treasure Act in the Annual Report 2001, no. 151, as 17th Century. In terms of age and as the object contains a minimum of 10% precious metal it qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996.

Complete gilded silver hat-hook or cap-badge of late fifteenth to the first half of the sixteenth century date (c. AD 1475 - c. AD 1550). Treasure case no. BM2004 T359.
