Silver-gilt dress hook of tear drop form, pinked border with hollow-cast cushion at the centre decorated with three circles formed in filigree with central knops, arranged around a central knop. Heavily gilded. Complete with recurving hook soldered onto backplate at top and rectangular bar attachment soldered onto the backplate below. Treasure case 2009 T141. Decorative silver arrow head terminal, made from thin silver sheet and therefore a purely decorative element from some larger ensemble. Perhaps the arrow attribute of a silver figure of a saint such as St Michael? Late medieval or early modern, perhaps 16th Century. As such, due to its age and precious metal content, this object qualifies as Treasure under the stipulations of the Treasure Act 1996. Silver artefact, heart-shaped, with back plate onto which a cushioned heart-shaped element has been soldered. The heart on the front decorated with applied filigree circles and knops radiating from the centre. The back flat with no sign of previously-attached bars or hooks, though the front right of the object suggests that a projecting element there has been torn away and lost. Length: 20 mm. Silver spoon stem, broken just above bowl and at terminal. Heavy stem of hexagonal section, punched on one side above bowl with three marks; possibly a Gothic B in a shield, an R in a shield, and another illegible mark. The crudeness and lack of London marks of Leopard's head crowned and lion passant indicate that this spoon is of provincial workmanship. Probably 17th century. A silver artefact built up of three superimposed squares, forming a stepped pyramid. Approximately 10 mm square. Reverse plain. This artefact is undiagnostic and correspondingly hard to date. Although there are signs that the object is not machine-made, there is no reason to think that it predates 1706 and it therefore falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996 (Dr Dora Thornton, Curator of Renaissance Collections, The British Museum).

A silver thimble with waffle-shaped indentations but with pattern of linked cables left plain; plain band at part of the rim and plain disc at central point of dome. The thimble is in excellent condition, apart from one scratch running around it just below the dome. Given the regularity and depth of the indentations, the thimble may have been made on a lathe rather than punched by hand. Unmarked. Length approx 2.9 cm. Silver lozenge-shaped bead, hollow, with integral suspension loop and ring; hole at other end. Decorated with applied filigree circles and loops. Though the decoration is reminiscent of that found on 16th Century dress pins reported through the Treasure Act, this object seems to me to be machine-made and consequently much later in date. The form suggests a 19th Century date and my guess is that this is part of an ear-ring of relatively recent manufacture. It does not therefore come under the 1996 Treasure Act (Dr Dora Thornton, Curator of Renaissance Collections, The British Museum).

A post-medieval silver seal matrix with fluted handle, three transverse bands and suspension loop. The seal is engraved with a shield with a single diagonal band with three stars and crest with mantling above. The form of the seal-die and the style of the mantling suggests an 18th century date, not necessarily pre-1707. The seal-die cannot be securely dated to pre-1707 and as such it falls outside the provisions of the Treasure Act 1996 (Dr Dora Thornton, Curator of Renaissance Collections, The British Museum).
