Medieval lead trade weight, 56mm long, 42mm wide and 13mm thick with a weight of 213grams. The object is triangular in form (shield shaped) and rectangular in cross section. It is very worn, but the traces of a raised rim around its edge can be seen, as can the moulded plantagenet crest of three lions on its surface. The weight has a circular suspension hole in the centre of its flat upper side. 213grams equates to about 7.7oz so this object was probably originally used as an 8oz weight.

It has a flat raised lip and is decorated with two concentric incised placed centrally bewteen the centre and the outer lip. The weight is stamped with three control marks. The ewer for the Foudners company, the sword for the City of London and a crowned C which dates it to the reign of Charles I, 1625-49.

Medieval copper alloy cup weight, 16mm in diameter, 7mm high and weighing 7.22grams. The weight is circular in form and rectangular in cross section with slightly tapering sides c. 2mm thick. The flat rim is decorated with twelve punched rings. The sides show signs of filing, possibly to adjust its weight. This is a cup weight, which would form part of anested set similar to an example published from Salisbury (Saunders, 2001: fig. 43 no. 28b) and from the PAS database (e.g. HAMP-8FA964, IOW-0A3577). It is of probable 13th to 14th century AD date.
