Medieval lead trade weight, 56mm long, 42mm wide and 13mm thick with a weight of 213grams. The object is triangular in form (shield shaped) and rectangular in cross section. It is very worn, but the traces of a raised rim around its edge can be seen, as can the moulded plantagenet crest of three lions on its surface. The weight has a circular suspension hole in the centre of its flat upper side. 213grams equates to about 7.7oz so this object was probably originally used as an 8oz weight.

The ewer for the Foudners company, the sword for the City of London and a crowned C which dates it to the reign of Charles I, 1625-49.
