Medieval copper alloy balance arm, 45mm long and 4mm in diameter. It is in fair condition with a green patina and weighs 6.61grams. The object consists of a circular sectioned arm which tapers in width towards its end. This has a collar of five ridges with an oval plate (6mm x9mm) at its end, this has a circular suspension hole in its centre. The other, broken, end has the remains of a rectangular plate which appears to have also had a circular suspension hole.

Medieval copper alloy balance arm or instrument tuner 83mm long, 7mm wide at terminal and 4mm in diameter at other end. The object is in fair condition with a light green patina and weighs 14.52 grams. At its widest end it has a rectangular section which bulges slightly 10mm in. From this point the object narrows and becomes circular in secion tapering to a 4mm diameter. At the end it has a circular hole 2mm in diameter. The object could be part of a medieval balance scale or is a tuning key for an instrument.

Undated Copper alloy shaft, length: 64 mm, width: 3 mm, thickness: 3 mm, weight: 3.13 grams. The shaft has a rectangular cross section and it tapers in width, swelling towards its centre. One end is complete and terminates in a point. The other has broken off and clealry shows that the object has a dark brown core and the appearence of being gilded? It is similar to a balance arm, but it may have another purpose.

Possible post medieval? balance arm fragment, 30mm long, 14mm wide and 3mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 1.94grams. It consists of a rectangular sectioned shaft which has been twisted. This sits in a moulded collar which is attached to a semi-circular shaped projection which has a flat upper side with a circular depression in its centre and a curved underside which is decorated with incised grooves on its outer portion. It has been suggested that these could be part of a balance arm see NMS-09E313
