Medieval? copper alloy mount, possibly from a book or chest? 69mm long, 9mm wide and 4mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 10.38grams. The object is rectangular in from and sub rectangular in section with rounded edges and a sub rectangular tapering protrusion at one end. The object has two round holes in each end and its upper surface has tapered edges. The upper surface appears to be decorated with two rectangular raised areas.

The object is triangular in form with an inner twisted rope border. Inside this are three domed circles with twisted rope like border. Between two of the domes, just off centre is a spherical knop which has been carelessly attached. The whole surface has been gilded, but is very worn in places with patches of gold remaining only in recesses. The reverse of the object has a soldered on loop, about half of which overhangs a flat edge.
