Early Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl, 21mm in diameter and 14mm thick and weighs 32.78grams. The whorl is circular in form and rectangular in cross section. It has one roughly incised cross on its side. Its form, which matches Walton class A2-B1, and its wide aperture of 10-12mm, suggest an early medieval date. Similar whorls have been found in neighbouring Lincolnshire, for example NLM-B1C990 NLM-525B73 NLM-1372D8

Its central hole, is 11mm in diameter. It has no other decoration. The form is unusual but overall the whorl fits Walton Rogers form A1, which she dates to 500-1000AD.

Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl, 30mmm in diameter. The whorl is in good condition and has interesting decoration. One side has a series of semi-spheres enclosed by straight, joining lines. The other side is inscribed with the letters E I A M and what could be another I or J? (looks like an anchor). Each letter is separated by a transverse raised line and spaces are filled with random raised circles. The whorl fits Walton Rogers Form C which she dates to 1100-1500AD (Recorded from a photo)
