Early Medieval copper alloy cruciform brooch foot, 33mm long, 8mm wide, 4mm thick and weighs 6.68g. The object consists of the animal head base of the brooch which contains the catchplate. It has a roughly rectangular form and cross section and it terminates with a 'trefoil' snout with each lobe being rounded and prominent. Above this the object has a triangular cross section with the ridge running up the centre of the upper surface. Early medieval copper alloy brooch head fragment, 22mm long, 20mm wide, 3mm thick and weighs 7.23g. The objects consist of the central portion of a brooch head. It is recatngular in form and flat. It is plain except for traces of the stepped line running down at each side from which the sides of the headplate would emerge. The reverse has an incomplete semi-circular suspension loop surrounded by iron staining.

Late Iron Age to Roman copper alloy Colchester type bow brooch, 65mm long, 21mm wide and weighing 12.20 grams. The brooch is plain with short open wings containing a spring of seven coils. The curved bow is sub circular in section and tapers to a point and has a raised tapering area protruding from the spring and down the centre of the upper part of the bow. Traces of a catchplate 16mm long are just visible and the upper part of the pin survives.

Early Medieval copper alloy brooch fragment, 44.8mm long, 9.2mm wide and 4mm thick. The object is in poor condition with a brown patina and weighs 4.54grams The object consists of the lower part of a cruciform brooch which is missing a lot of its surface. It is rectangular in form and begins with a stylised animal head which is sub semi-circular in section and has bulging eyes. There is a rectangular area above it which may have a decorated border. The reverse shows the base of a long catchplate.

The object is missing its spring and pin. It has a sub circular section and is curved. Its lower edge flattens out into an incomplete catchplate, which has a triangular form and part of a circular hole visible near its broken edge. The upper part of the brooch narrows and it has snapped just where it begins to curl back on itself to form the spring. The brooch matches example 12 in Fig.149 in Hattatt's ancient brooches.

Roman copper alloy trumpet? brooch fragment, 33mm long, 5mm wide and 13mm thick. The brooch is in fair condition with a greyish patina and weighs 2.94 grams. The object consists of the lower part of a brooch which has a triangular sectioned strainght bow with a stepped semi-circular foot. The catchplate which is intact is distinctive, having a sub rectangular form. It has a gently sloping upper edge which merges into the bow and its base protrudes straight out for 5mm before its 'catch' slopes gently outwards. Given this form I would say it is from a trumpet or derivitive brooch.

Early medieval copper alloy cruciform brooch fragment, 19mm long, 8mm wide and 7mm thick. The object is in fair condition with a brown patina and weighs 2.17grams. The object consists of the upper part of the brooch and has a small rectangular head plate with a single knop on its upper edge. The sides are missing but the head plate has traces of the bow emerging from its base. The reverse has a circular lug which is corroded with iron.

The brooch is in the form of a dagger or sword and consists of a semi-circular pommel with a short handle and projecting guard. The blade terminates in a point and one side has a sub triangular bulge. The blade and the pommel have raised edges and may have held enamel. The reverse has two semi-circular lugs sitting at the top of the blade and the remains of a catchplate can be seen just at its tip. The brooch has bent slightly in two places.

The object is most probably an example of a small- long brooch, similar to eg.668, fig.235 in Hattatts ancient brooches.

The brooch consists of circular sectioned wings which contained a hinged pin. From this emerges a flat curved bow which has an incised border. In the centre is a sphinx like reclining lion with its rear at the top of the brooch and its head pointing down the bow. The lion is very simply carved with no obvious features. Just below the figure the brooch has broken.
