Medieval copper alloy two piece strap end. 37mm long, 10mm wide and 6mm thick. The object is in fair condition with a brown patina and weighs 3.58grams. The object consists of a trapezoidal shaped plate, formed of two pieces of metal held together at the wider end with a single circular sectioned rivet. The narrow end has rounded shoulders and a rectangular shaped terminal which when viewed from the side has a sub oval form. This is decorated with a series of diagonal incised lines. It is Similar to Fig 86, 614 in Egan and Pritchard's Dress Accessories and may represent a stylised human head?

Medieval copper alloy harness pendant, 40mm long, 33mm wide and 2mm thick. The object is in fair condition with a brown patina and weighs 11.05grams. The object is shield shaped and flat and contains a recessed image of a standing lion, it is stylised, with a skinny body, large head and over-large paws, suggesting an early date? It has very small patches of possible gilding and has a circular hole in the centre of its lower, pointed edge, which appears to be a secondary as it cuts through the decoration.

Roman copper alloy Hod Hill brooch fragment, 24mm long, 20mm wide and 4mm thick. The brooch is in poor condition with a brown patina and weighs 6.91grams. The object consists of the upper part of the bow. It begins with a circular sectioned shaft which sits above a sub rectangular plate. This has a narrower lower section which is set back slightly giving the fragment an S shaped section. There are traces of a possible raised band running down the centre of the upper half, but otherwsie the object appears plain.

It is decorated on one side with part of a central? panel which was probably made up of two triangles flanking a central circular motif? next to this are two square panels with ring and dot decoration. From here the object tapers and is decorated with a feather like pattern formed of an incised line flanked by diagonal incisions.

It is flat and oval, and has a central sunken field with chip-carved counter-relief decoration, partly obscured by a very even coating of dark brown/orange iron corrosion, identified by Raman spectroscopy as goethite (see report below). The counter-relief decoration consists of a broad raised central stem running upwards from the reserved border at the junction of the head and shaft. It is decorated with a central broad circle which is surrounded by a ring of raised dots contained within a zig zag border. This section is filled with red enamel which has spilled over into the outer blue area in places. The brooch is bordered by a thin raised edge. The brooch matches egs, 515, 119 and 1035 in fig. 203 in Hattatt's ancient brooch catalgue.

The loop is oval in form with a sub-triangular section and has a small protrusion on its outer side aligned with the pin. It has an integral plate spacer bar which is rectangular in section with protruding rectangular sectioned prongs. The pin is attached to a hole in the centre of the plate and is circular in section. The buckle matches eg 211, p26 in Whitehead, R. Buckles 1250-1800.

It has a large incomplete loop at the top and the bow has a rectangular section. The bow appears to have been bent, making it more rounded. The stud is solid with no traces of enamel and the decoration on the bow consists of a series of ridges running its length. The catchplate is damaged, but long at c. 20mm.

It consists of a poorly cast circle which has five 'spokes' running into a central circular hub. The outer side of the circle has sub spherical protrusions (technically known as crockets) around most of its length, with one small area having a flattened edge. This looks like either a miscasting or a break point. The object is probably a 'Catherine wheel' representing the torture device used on St. Catherine before her execution.

It is made from a single piece of copper alloy folded in half, and consists of a rectangular plate with a copper-alloy rivet in each upper corner joining the two halves, with a hemi-spherical hollow protrusion which has a small circular hole in its underside. Beyond this is a lozengiform terminal at the folded end, with a gap at the fold forming a suspension loop.
