The object is circular in form and sub triangular in section and consists of two layers of petal like protrusions arranged around a central boss. The object has two fixing prongs on the edge of its slightly hollow underside. It is similar in form to 1299, Page 243 in Egan, G and Pritchard, F. Dress Accessories.

The object is rectangular in form and section and has a circular hole in each corner, one with intact copper alloy rivet. The whole surface is covered in incised diagonal cross hatching and above this, placed just above centre, is a shield device. Medieval/Post medieval copper alloy suspension? mount, 34mm long, 17mm wide and 6mm thick. It consists of a rectangular plate which has two copper alloy rivets in each upper corner. The reverse side has a patch of leather and part of a CU sheet still attached. Below this is a single centrally placed circular hole which sits above a rectangular protrusion which has been twisted so its alignment is at ninety degrees to that of the main plate. This may have formed a hook, this and the leather would suggest the object is for suspending something from a strap.
