The object represents about a quarter of a circular brooch, including its catchplate which is 3mm thick. Its surface is decorated with a series of five concentric circles which surround a raised cross and pellets. The reverse has the now squashed remnants of two fixing loops/lugs aligned and right angles to the edge. The object is very similar to examples from Coppergate in York, particularly 10602, fig 1268, page 2573, YAT17/14.
