The decorative part has a solid raised transverse line forming the border with the recessed attachment end, which projects above but is incomplete, retaining part of one circular hole. The strap-end has convex long sides, a flattish rectangular cross-section, and is missing its terminal in what appears to be a recent break. Its upper attachment end is split to receive the strap, and is shaped around two circular rivet holes, both now empty. The object consists of a circular sectioned shaft which becomes rectangular in section towards one end. It has a circular hole just below its rounded end and its other end terminates in a globular attachment, 7mm in diameter. Dora Thornton has dated this item to 16-17th centuries.

Early medieval copper alloy strap end of Thomas's Class B1, with simple grooved decoration at terminal (Thomas 2003, Fig. 2.13). The object is slightly corroded, bent in the middle, and with a fragmentary flared split end. The decoration is only visible at the terminal and consists of parallel transverse grooves and raised mouldings. The reverse is undecorated. Lenght: 39mm; Width: 7mm; Thickness: 4mm; Weight: 2.70g. The date range for this class of strap-end is early 9th to 11th century. Found before 1990.

The main decoration appears to be an intertwined beast, which has been inlaid with niello which has now mineralised to a silvery colour. It has two circular holes at its upper end below which is a scallop-shell-like motif.

The object consists of two identical plates which have slightly bevelled edges. These are held together by four rivets, two at the upper end and two just before the shaped terminal. The object has a semi circular end from the centre of which protrudes a short rectangular shaft terminating in a circular plate. The main body of the object seems to have been decorated but its worn mostly away.
