Medieval copper alloy seal matrix, 21mm in diameter, 2mm thick and weighing 4.37g. The object consists of a short hexagonal tapering shaft with a double collar sitting below a large integral suspension loop, which is filled with iron corrosion. The shaft terminates in a shield shaped matrix, 13 x 14mm. This depicts Mary suckling Jesus, its edges are worn so the inscription is hard to read, possibly reads RO----EDIV The form is similar to SF-79CCC7 LEIC-55B0CC SUR-EA3B3B, though none of these have a religious image.

It has a tapering rectangular cross sectioned ridge running up the centre of its reverse, which terminates in a semi-circular shaped suspension loop. The matrix is worn but depicts a seated figure in an ornate sub rectangular border suggestinga throne and is holding a large child on its knee. This imagery would suggest the Virgin and child. The border houses an inscription, but it is mostly worn away.
