Complete bow brooch with exposed spring. It has a complete pin and catchplate and dates to 1st century AD. Its 35mm wide and 60mm long and made of bronze. The brooch is formed by a bar (called a wing) which is 35mm across and circular in profile. This forms the head of the brooch and houses the spring. Coming down from the centre of this is the comma shaped body which starts 10mm wide and tapers in towards its end. Copper alloy brooch of a horse, 38mm long and 28mm high, 2nd Century. The horse is flat and facing right, its missing its legs and tail. It has a narrow head with wider neck and shoulders. At the base of the shoulders is the broken off front leg which faces forward. The underside is very straight and the centre of the torso is narrow. towards the hind quarters this curves downwards to the broken off back leg. Roman Bow (or Dolphin) brooch, 40mm long and 28mm wide. The pin is missing and the brooch has no decoration. The brooch is formed by a bar (called a wing) which is 28mm across and semi-circular in profile. This forms the head of the brooch and houses the spring. Coming down from the centre of this is the comma shaped body which starts 8mm wide and tapers in towards its end.
Recorded at the 'Hidden Treasures' finds day at Market Harborough.

An incomplete Roman copper alloy zoomorphic (duck) plate brooch, representing a duck floating on water. Most of the wings and body of the bird are intact, but the neck and head are missing. It is roughly triangular in plan and curves downwards at each side to represent the wings. The back of the bird has a long central ridge 3mm wide, running down its length. This ridge widens slightly at the tail end which is square and there is a circular recess with a diameter of 2mm on the tail. There are slight traces of white metal coating close to this recess. Copper alloy Roman button-and loop fastener, Wild Class II (1970). It has a ring head and a triangular loop which is 23mm long and the width of each side is about 3mm wide. The loop turns 90 degrees at the head and narrows to a rod which is about 3mm wide and rises 5mm. The rod turns 90 degrees back to its original orientation at the ring-head which has an external diameter of 20mm and an internal diameter of 10mm hole. The object is quite corroded.

Copper alloy Roman Colchester derivative brooch of Dolphin type. The wings have two deep incised lines running vertically at each end. The bow curves downwards, is very thin and tapers down to a point. The spring is intact but the pin and cathplate are missing. The brooch is 45mm long and 30mm wide.

Copper alloy Roman Polden hill bow brooch, 32mm long and 23mm wide. The Brooch is very small and has a very wide body. The wings are very short and have no decoration other than rolled edges? The shaft is very wide, taking up most of the width and curves very sharply. It is decorated with three deep chevrons, the uppermost has a beaded border, these curve around and down the broch almost half way. catchplate and pin missing.

Copper alloy Roman Bow Brooch, Colchester derivitive. 38mm long and 27mm wide. The wings are covered in vertical bands of decoration, some are incised into the surface and others are flat and have horizontal lines in between. There is an intact loop at the top. The shaft has a concave shape and has similar decoration with the outer edges covered in horizontal lines which meet vertical lines near the centre. pin and cathplate missing but spring intact. Similar to 376 in hattatt .

Copper alloy Roman Aesica Brooch, 43mm long and 20mm wide. This brooch worn and has no surface left. The pin is missing but the casing is intact. The brooch is made up of two distinct parts, the first emerges from the spring and covers almost its full length. the flat trapizodal shape then curves upwards and out. From this shape a small strip of metal, C.4mm wide, curves downwards to join the other section. The second, lower section is slightly narrower than the first and has a roughly oblong shape, the catchplate would be attached to the back of this, here it and the pin are missing.…

Roman Copper alloy Bow Brooch, 29mm wide and 25mm high. The brooch is quite plain and incomplete. The spring casing has been broken off at the right arm and most of the spring has gone. The base of the Bow has also gone and the only decoration visible is the elongated triangle (6mm by 15mm) incised into the surfaceof the bow. no parrallell in Hattatt.

Copper alloy handle, 47mm long and 17mm wide. About two thirds of its length is made up of four geometric forms one above the other, the remaining third is made up of an oblong rivet/stem. The handle begins with a circular knob which sits above a slightly wider square shape. This in turn sits above an eliptical form, which sits above a trapezodal shape which would have rested on the surface of the furniture

Kraftig type Roman copper alloy Trumpet Brooch, 55mm long and 30mm wide. The bow is very wide, almost forming a semi-circle. The brooch has a pronounced elbow(?) with a central protruding disc, enclosed by a vertical ridge above and below. The bow is bevelled, producing a ridge down its entire length, It terminates with an eliptical knop above a small sphere.
