Medieval copper alloy mount or buckle fragment? 35mm long, 14mm wide and 3mm thick with a weight of 4.73g. The object is sub rectangular in form and cross section. It has one curved long edge and a rounded, flattish terminal at each end, one appears complete but the other has an obvious break. In its centre the object has a curved outer edge and has a slightly rounded upper surface which appears plain. The object may be a mount of some sort or an irregularly damaged buckle frame?

It is very worn/mis-cast and has a raised design of a shield outline with a central inscription of IHS? in each corner, outside the shield motif, are two or three raised semi-spheres. The object consists of a 3-dimensional dog's head which has a barrel shaped snout with projecting tongue, a slightly wider head with incisions representing eyes and triangular ears emerging from the top. The pendant is scutiform (rectangular upper portion, triangular lower) and has an incomplete transverse suspension loop in the centre of its upper surface. It is decorated with a rampant lion with a probable bend sinister behind. It is similar to an example in Museum of London Medieval catalogue, type I, 2a.

Medieval copper alloy spur strap or book fitting? 65mm in length, 8mm wide, 3mm thick with a weight of 9.18g. The object is rectangular in form and cross section with a slightly rounded long edge. At one end it has a rectangular hole, forming a buckle loop. It has two small circular holes one just behind the loop and the other at the far end. It has no obviosu decoration. The object is most likely a fitting for a spur strap but could also be a book strap fitting.
