Early Medieval Lead alloy spindle whorl, 20mm in diameter and 7mm thick. The object is a very crudely made whorl with a white dusty patina. It is sub rectangular in shape and roughly domed in section. The hole is slightly off centre and is 5mm in diameter.

Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl, 28mm in diameter, 8mm thick with a weight of 35.18 grams. The spindle is circular in form and D shaped in cross section, with a 5mm circular hole in its centre. The underside is completely flat and the whole object is completely plain. The whorl fits Walton Rogers form A1, which she dates to 500-1000AD.

The object has a wide circular hole, 10mm in diameter, in its centre and is roughly conical in shape being 15mm wide at the top and 23mm at its base. The object looks roughly made and has no decoration. The form of the whorl matches Walton Rogers type A2 which she dates to 700-1100AD

Medieval lead alloy spindle whorl, 21mm in diameter and 13mm thick. The whorl weighs 21.96 grams is circular in form and rectangular in cross section with a powdery white patina. It is decorated with a series of dot and ring marks, five on the upper surface. The edge has a row of them interspersed with two indented dots at irregular intervals. The underside is plain and the hole is 6mm in diameter. The whorl fits Walton Rogers form B, which she dates to 900-1200AD.

Two Early Medieval to Medieval lead alloy spindle whorls. The smaller one is 28mm in diameter and is circular in form and sub rectangular in cross section with a central hole, 12mm in diameter. It has aligned transverse depression on one face, which would have secured the pin holding the whorl on its staff. This conforms to Walton Rogers Form B, 900-1200AD. The larger is 30mm in diameter with a circular form and a D shaped cross section. This conforms to Walton Rogers form A1 which she dates to 500-1000AD Recorded at the Hidden Treasures roadshow in Market Harborough.
