An early medieval silver and gilt pyramidal mount. The object is rectangular in form and triangular in cross section with a flat rectangular apex, recessed for a glass or gemstone setting that is now lost. Each face is decorated with three triangular depressions which are gilded inside. The edges of these are bordered with niello, creating a Y-shape between them. A further niello border runs around the edge of each face. The underside of the object is hollow and slightly corroded, with a scar where a transverse attachment bar would have been fixed.

Anglo-Saxon silver strap end, 28mm long, 10mm wide and 4mm thick (at widest point). The strap-end has convex long sides, a flattish rectangular cross-section, and is missing its terminal in what appears to be a recent break.
