Post medieval copper alloy pipe tamper combined with a seal matrix, 44mm long, 20mm wide and 12mm thick with a weight of 7.78 grams. The object is in the form of a signet ring, with flat upper surface housing an oval bezel which forms the matrix . This is missing some of its surface but appears to be decorated with a star motif sitting above initials, of which an S (the second initial) can still be seen.
The circular sectioned shaft , c.30mmm long, is attached opposite the bezel and is moulded with three increasingly large rounded projections, terminating in the flat circular tampe…

Post Medieval copper alloy pipe tamper 43mm long, 11 mm in diameter (terminals) and 6mm thick. The object consists of two flat circular terminals joined by a shaft formed of two elongated pyramids (narrow ends under terminals) with a raised collar where they join in the centre.

Post medieval copper alloy signet ring pipe tamper, 48mm long, 23mm wide and weighs 62gms. The object consists of a bronze ring which has a circular bezel incorporating the initials WD with incised stars and crescents above and below. Opposite the bezel is a small hexagonal? shaft which widens gently and terminates in a stepped circular plate which forms the tamper. This style of object dates to the late 17th and early 18th centuries.

Post Medieval copper alloy pipe tamper, 67mm long, 22mm wide and 6mm thick. The object is in fair condition with a brown patina and weighs 11.93 grams. The object is in the form of a semi-naked women with cloth draped around her hips and with outstretched arms. She is standing on a spherical protrusion which in turn sits on a circular sectioned shaft with a flat splayed terminal which forms the tamper.

Lead alloy pipe tamper in the form of a figure, most probably Napoleon. The actual tamper is placed at the feet of the figure. It is 37mm high and 12mm wide, and in good condition apart from some corrosion at the base.
