Medieval silver annular brooch fragment, 25mm long, 5mm wide and 0.5mm thick with a weight of 0.68g.
The object consists of about half a brooch with a partial pin bar, 3mm long and 1.25mm wide, emerging from one end. It has a semi-circular form and a rectangular cross section. It is decorated on one surface with an outer rope like border, made up of diagonal incisions. Beyond this is an incised border which runs along to the edge housing the pin bar and continues down that straight edge and around the inner edge. Roman copper alloy Hod Hill bow brooch, 25mm in length, 14mm wide and 3mm thick with a weight of 2.12grams.
The brooch is incomplete and consists of a rectangular shaped and cross sectioned bow. This has a wider upper edge with a circular cross section, which houses the pin bar. The brooch is domed, circular in form and rectangular in cross section. It is incomplete, missing partof its edge and its pin. It has a raised hollow circular plate which has a raised border, c.1mm wide. Inside this is a raised pointed quatrefoil motif with a central recessed circular ring filled with red enamel. Early Medieval (Scandinavian) Quidenham type copper alloy gilded disc brooch, 26mm in diameter, 3mm thick and weighing 8.08g.
The brooch is circular in form and sub rectangular in cross section. The brooch is circular in form and D shaped in cross section. The brooch has a triangular shaped projecting pin rest with a raised, rouned upper surface, sitting in front of a V shaped notch in the brooches inner edge. It has a corresponding pin recess opposite, but this is only present on its outer edge. Roman copper alloy Colchester derivative, double pierced lug, Harlow type brooch, length: 43 mm, width: 22 mm, thickness: 10 mm, weight: 8.04 g.
The brooch consists of short open semi-circular cross sectioned wings, which sit below a spring of 8 coils. The spring is held in place by a central semi-circular suspension loop which sits at the top of a linear ridge running down the centre of the flat rectangular shaped and cross sectioned bow. This is incomplete missing its catchplate and pin.
