Post Medieval gold posy ring, 18mm in diameter, 3mm wide and 1mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 1.91 grams. It consists of a plain band with a concave outer surface and a flat inner. It is inscribed inside with the words 'Honnored for thy vertue' followed by a makers mark, the initials I(J)C with a dot below in a scutiform border.
The makers mark is very similar to the sterling mark for Joseph Clare, his being in a heart shaped border, of London, who worked in first quarter of the 18th century. This is the only mark in my reference book that resembles the one o…

Medieval gold finger ring, 19mm in diameter and 1-2mm wide. The ring is very plain and in good condition. The ring has a small oval recess, 3mm long and 2mm wide, with the decayed remains of a setting, perhaps enamel. This is accomodated by the object widening to 2mm and becoming thicker, from 0.5mm to 1mm.
