Object type: HOOK
Broad period: MODERN
County: Leicestershire
Workflow stage: Published Find published
Copper alloy object, 21mm long, 12mm wide and 4mm thick with a weight of 9.45g. The object has a square head with each corner cut off, creating a facetted appearance. This sits on top of a circular-sectioned shaft. Although the object resembles a Roman pin (fig.9. no.11 in Cool, H.E.M. Roman metal hairpins from Southern Britain. Vol 147 Archaeological Journal 1990) it is more likely to be a modern hook, perhaps for a coat or strings for a blind, etc. Compare NLM-B5DF46, LVPL-4CF45C, LEIC-B30068, SF-D59BA6. Probably 19th or 20th century.
