Early Medieval copper alloy bowl fragments. A scatter of copper-alloy fragments from a copper alloy 'Coptic' bowl was found surrounding the gold buckle's find spot. The fragments comprise two large pieces from the base and one smaller non-joining piece, all with remnants of the openwork footring; four possible rim pieces; one plain piece from the body; one fragment of openwork footring; two rim pieces with integral circular loops and ridges matching the four smaller rim fragments; and one detached loop. All appear to come from the same vessel. The joining pieces of base and the sma…

Early medieval lead alloy vat, 310mm in diameter, 130mm high and weighing several kgs. The vessel has been formed in two pieces with a flat circular base, now very worn and patched, attached to shallow vertical sides which have been soldered on to the base. The external surface of the vessel is pitted, suggesting it was cast in a sand mould (see below). The upper edge has a turned rim, 15-20mm wide, and attached to the upper part of this are two iron projections, presumably the remains of an attachment loop for a handle or hooked iron loops (see below). Below each of these projections…

Medieval ceramic vessel fragment, 68mm long, 48mm wide and 8-10mm thick with a weight of 34.2grams. The object consists of a large curving body sherd with rim attached. There is a large circular hole just below the rim with projecting edges, suggesting it once had a handle. This and its curved form suggest a pipkin (cooking pot). It has a creamy white/grey colour and a fine fabric consistent with Stamford ware. It also has a rim c.20mm wide, with a flat upper surface which has been rouletted. It has two lines of closely placed rectangular depressions running across its surface.
