Early medieval copper alloy harness fitting? height: 24 mm, width 9 mm, thickness 9mm, weight 10.65grams. The object is probably incomplete and consisits of a short circular cross sectioned shaft which has a rounded collar. Above this the object opens out into a flat, triangular shaped 'loop', with circular cross sectioned arms which terminate in a rectangular projection which turns in at an angle. These house a thin circular cross sectioned bar, slightly recessed. The object is very similar to harness fittings dating to the 11th century and probably has a related function.
