A base silver Roman denarius, possibly a contemporary copy of a coin of Septimius Severus (AD 193-211), dating to the period c.AD 196-211 (Reece period 10). Reverse type depicting Genius standing left sacrificing out of a patera over an altar and holding corn ears. Prototype of the mint of Rome. Cf. RIC IV.1, p. 101, no. 87 passim for the reverse type.
