Medieval lead pilgrim's ampulla, 33mm long, 33mm wide and 13mm thick. The object appears complete, but is folded in half, and weighs 41.52g. The ampulla is bag shaped with no visible lugs. It is clearly decorated on both sides. One side shows what appears to be an ornate crowned letter T. The other has a fleur in a circular border which is surrounded by a band of small raised stars.

The ampulla is bag shaped and has been used, so it is missing its neck and any lugs. It appears to be decorated on one side with an outline flower motif. The other side is partially obscured but appears to show part of a circle with cross-hatching filling it.

Medieval lead alloy ampulla, 38mm long, 35mm wide and 12mm thick. The object is in fair condition with a grey patina and weighs 49.68grams. The ampulla represents a circular shaped bag with a small rectangular neck. The neck has one suspension loop protruding from it. The bag has two circular ridges around its edge on both sides. These contain traces of decoration. One side is decorated with a shield showing a single, central chevron. The other is more faded, but has traces of raised angular lines which may show a star of David. The scanned image attached shows a similar example found …

Medieval lead alloy Walsingham pilgrims ampulla, 50mm long, 31mm wide and 7mm thick. The object is in fair condition with a cream patina and weighs 36.16grams. The ampulla is bag shaped and quite flat and it has some damage to one of its upper sides. The ampulla is decorated on one side with a raised crown which has an area of cross hatching below it. The other side has a raised W which is also surrounded by cross hatching. It has one remaining lug which is triangular in form, 9mm long and protrudes for 5mm.

The ampulla is bagged shaped and has two lugs, 11mm long and 5mm wide. One side is decorated with a flower motif formed of four lentoid petals, whilst the other side is decorated with a shield design which has a raised diagonal cross inside and a fleur de lis above.

The object is round in form and is missing the upper edge, though one lug can still be made out. Although this is damaged it appears to be intact and appears to be still full. It is decorated on one side with a series of raised lines, two prominent lines appear to form a 'vase' shape with curving tendrils emerging from it.

The ampulla is formed of a rounded base shaped to resemble a scallop shell, with radiating ridges on one side. The other side has a flat surface and is decorated with a shield motif which contains a thick diagonal cross and there is a possible sword above this? The neck is a trapezoidal in form and has an intact loop, 11mm long, on each side.

Late Medieval lead alloy ampulla, 51mm long and 29mm wide. The object is in fair condition with a cream patina. It is bag shaped with a circular lower half and a sub rectangular upper part. The edges of this are partially missing which shows it has been used. On one side there is a small loop near the centre. The ampulla is decorated on one side with a stylised crown, made up of a fluer de lis flanked by two semicircles, each filled with three raised pellets, above a beaded border. The other side has a shield design with a St Georges cross inside it.

Medieval lead alloy ampulla, 47mm high and 35mm wide. The ampulla is in good condition with a beige patina. It is circular with a short neck and has both side lugs, which are 10mm long, intact. One side is decorated with a scallop shell design, the other has a lombardic T which is crowned. This symbol would suggest St Thomas Becket of Canterbury and a date of 1300-1500.

Medieval lead alloy ampulla, 50mm long and 27mm wide. The ampulla has a white patina and is in good condition, but has been cut open along most of its reverse. It is circular in form and is decorated with a scallop shell design in deep relief. It has a pronounced ridge along its sides and the shell decoration continues onto the back for 10mm, at which point it becomes plain. The neck is completely plain and is narrow and long, 24mm long and 12mm wide. There is a faint trace of a lug on one side of the neck and the torn away lead has been stuffed into the cavity of the ampulla.

Medieval lead alloy ampulla, 33mm long and 30mm wide. The object is in fair condition with a dark beige patina. It has clearly been used, the cut removing the whole of its upper edge and handles. The decoration consists of a radiating feathers or petal motif on one side with what appears to be a pyramid of triangles flanked by lettering. P can be clearly seen on the left and there is a possible X on the right. I cannot find a parallel for this pattern.

Late medieval lead alloy ampulla, 52mm long and 32mm wide. The object is in poor condition and is cracked in many places. The object has a grey patina and weighs 32.95grams. The ampulla is bag-shaped with a circular body and trapezoidal neck. There are no obvious signs of decoration (any present has probably been worn off). The ampulla appears to have been pierced through its centre, possibly nailed onto furniture or a building.
