The object is sub-rectangular in form and cross section and consists of the axe head which is sub rectangular and widens to a flat blade. The narrower shaft end has a small stump of shaft emerging from beneath the head. It is similiar in form to GLO-F3F9B0 and OXON-B1FB07. It has a raised plain lip, c.1.5mm wide, then a flat recessed field with traces of enamel in patches. inside this is a thin raised lip which houses a circular field of debased millefiori, consisting of a red field with eleven sub rectangular patches of (originally) nine blue and white alternate rods, forming a flower like motif or a chequerboard. Roman copper alloy gilded plate brooch, 19mm in length, 12mm wide, with a weight of 2.84grams. The object is oval in form and rectangular in cross section. It has a gilded outer border decorated with a row of raised X motifs in a tight row, which is heavily gilded but incomplete. The inside has a damaged raised oval border and a recess which would have housed a stone. The reverse has the remains of a long sub rectangular catch plate and a corresponding semi-circular pin lug. The brooch is similar to NLM-E9BD1B, LIN-BD2A26 and OXON-8ECB45.
