It has a small rectangular hole in its 'pointed' end and below this is decorated on bboth sides. One has radiating linear depressions representing a scallop shell, whilst the other has a 'wheel' like motif of large raised circle and radiating lines converging on a small central circle. It is a standard London trade weight, stamped with the letter A, sword and ewer. It also has a faint crest with three oval shaped motifs? The weight has then been stamped in three places with a stamp consisting of the letters LEICESTER forming an open circle, with Co in the centre. The lettering appears to be Georgian/Victorian and suggests the weight has been re-cycled and re-issued for local use?
