Medieval or later lead alloy token, 23mm in diameter and 9mm thick with a weight of 23.88g. The object is circular in form and has an elongated triangular cross section, going from 4-9mm thick. It is decorated on one face with a flower like motif formed of seven sub rectangular depressions arranged around a central circular knop. The object is most likely a token of some description, but could also be a weight.

It is decorated with a raised motif of a six petalled in a raised double border on each side. This is a very common motif on tokens from 1400-1800 but this example is very well produced and larger than usual.

It is decorated on one face with the combined coats of arms of England and Scotland in a shield with a crown above. This is flanked by a I and a 1/2. The combined coat of arms suggest a post Act of Union, 1707 date.

Medieval to post medieval lead alloy boy bishop token, 15mm in diameter with a weight of 2.12grams. The obverse depicts a mitre in a solid border with an inscription. The reverse has a long cross and pellets in each quarter with an incription mimicking a sterling penny. During medieval winter solistices it became a Christian tradition for each town to elect a Boy Bishop whom was paraded around on processions. In the processions, lead tokens were handed out to the crowd to celebrate the event. This is based on the Roman celebration 'Feast of Saturnalia' which was where society …

2 Medieval or post Medieval lead alloy tokens from the same location.Both are circular in form and rectangular in cross section. The smaller one is 18mm in diameter, 2mm thick and weighs 4.24g. It has decoration on one side consisting of a raised cross with two raised chevrons in each quarter. The larger one is 27mm in diameter, 3mm thick and weighs 8.38g. It is decorated on both sides, one has a large relief six petalled flower motif and the other has a W or overlapping chevron with a small circle, positioned just to the right of its upper centre.
