Medieval copper alloy buckle and frame, 1250-1500AD. Similar to Whitehead No.209, The buckle is oval in form with a D shaped section. Its only decoration is a central triangular protruding pin rest. It has the remnants of a two pronged stepped frame which would have been covered with a rectangular plate on each side.

The object consists of a D shaped frame with rounded underside and flat upper surface. It has two sub rectangular raised borders which run from the recessed circular sectioned bar on the flat edge; to the centre of the rounded portion, leaving a small central flat surface resembling a pin rest. The object consists of a sub triangular plate with a scallop shaped terminal. This is gilded and has three circular copper alloy rivets, two near the straight edge and one in the scallop area. Medieval copper alloy buckle and plate, 52mm long, 25mm wide and 4mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 8.82 grams. The object consists of a complete one piece buckle plate which is folded over the buckle loop and held in place with two copper alloy rivets. This has no signs of decoration. The buckle loop is oval and has a rectangular protruding pin rest c. 15mm wide which is decorated with incised transverse lines. The buckle pin is also present and has a rectangular section and a tapering point.

Medieval copper alloy buckle plate, 39mm long, 16mm wide and 6mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 3.69grams. The object consists of a flat rectangular plate which has two intact copper alloy circular rivets in one end. At the other it has a central rectangular recess to take the pin, which is flanked by the bases of rectangular protrusions, which would have folded over the loop. The surface is decorated with a border made up of a solid raised line flanked by two zig-zag lines, this appears to extend around the whole of the object.

Medieval copper alloy buckle fragment, 25mm long, 19mm wide and 2.5mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 3.82grams. The object consists of a curved, rectangular sectioned plate, which is wider its broken end (centre of buckle). At the other end it widens to a sub triangular terminal which accomodated a bar, the stump of which can just be seen. The surface is decorated with an incised pattern of a solid border with transverse lines cut through by a long line with a spiral terminal.

The buckle is D shaped with a rectangular section and a slightly recessed pin bar. It widens to a two lobed pin rest in its centre and the lobes and the rest of the surface are individually cross hatched with deep incisions. See Egan (2007) no. 792

Early Medieval copper alloy and garnet buckle tongue, 28mm long, 15mm wide and 6mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 8.09grams. It consists of a sub-circular plate with a rectangular section which has a small circular slice of garnet set in its centre. It has a stepped terminal ( forming a rectangular edge) sitting above a semi spherical shaft, c.17mm long and 6mm wide, that turns downwards and is missing its end. The reverse has the remains of a rectangular fitting near its far end, which would have attached it to a buckle plate.

Medieval copper alloy buckle, 37mm long, 16mm wide and 3mm thick. The buckle is in fair condition and weighs 3.21grams. The loop is oval in form with a sub rectangular section, the pin is missing. The loop is attached to a rectangular shaped plate which has two copper alloy rivets and possibly a third iron one in a row down its centre. There is a patch of thick gilding near to the central one. The buckle matches eg 186, p33 in Whitehead, R. Buckles 1250-1800.

The loop is oval in form with a sub-triangular section and has a small protrusion on its outer side aligned with the pin. It has an integral plate spacer bar which is rectangular in section with protruding rectangular sectioned prongs. The pin is attached to a hole in the centre of the plate and is circular in section. The buckle matches eg 211, p26 in Whitehead, R. Buckles 1250-1800.

Medieval copper alloy stirrup shaped buckle, 23mm long, 14mm wide and 4mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 2.23 grams. The object is sub-rectangular in form and section, with one flat edge with a recess to hold the pin. The other part is curved and terminates with a central sub-rectangular pin rest. Several similar examples are illustrated in the Meols report where they are dated to 14th century. (Griffiths et al. 2007, 94, no.622ff).

The object is rectangular in form and section, is in several pieces, and consists of a plate which is decorated with incised lines, possibly representing a creature of some sort. It has traces of a recessed area to take a pin and has a rivet in one corner with one more partial hole in the opposing corner. The buckle is similar to example 98, page 22, in Whitehead, R.Buckles 1250-1800.

The object is in the form of an incomplete buckle loop which is attached to an integral semi-circular sectioned thin bar. The buckle has a semi-circular sectioned, circular? loop which has a recess above a circular hole to accomodate the pin. The bar has a rounded bulge in its centre which accomodates a hole and at the far end it terminates in an elongated triangular terminal, which has three smaller holes in its centre.

Opposite this there are signs of wear on the inner edge, making the ring thinner. The object also has file marks on its surface.It is 32mm in diameter and 2mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 1.10g.
