The matrix has a tri-lobed terminal with a knop at its apex and small projections at the side (one at each upper side of a lobe) and one at each side where it joins the shaft. It sits upon a raised collar of three bands which has a short hexagonal tapering shaft below. This expands to form an oval shaped matrix surface which is engraved with an armorial shield set in a beaded recessed border.
The arms are quartered and are 1st and 4th , on a chevron between three animals's heads erased, a mullet enclosed by two crescents; 2nd and 3rd, two bars.
Above the shield the crest displays, on either side of the helm, ornate mantling which spills down outside of the shield. Out of the helm is what appears to be a demi-ram. Efforts to trace the individual to whom the arms were ascribed have so far been unsuccessful, though the Drakelow family in the south of the county had arms reminiscent of some of these elements - Argent on a chevron gules between three hawk's heads erased as many crescents of the first (Papworth, 1874: 525; Clive Cheesman, pers. comm.), as does Barcroft of Meer Green, Worcestershire - Sable on a chevron between three wolf's heads erased argent a mullet enclosed by two crescents gules (Papworth, ibid).
Discussion: The object is similar to BERK-F2BBDD, WAW-3A8C15 and WAW-872E38 all of which have been dated to the 17th century.

Post Medieval silver seal matrix 29mm long, 15mm in diameter at base and weighing 9.86grams. The matrix has an integral circular suspension loop sitting above a sub spherical swelling with a rounded double collar below. The circular cross sectioned shaft widens out towards its base to form a flat circular matrix. This is engraved with an image of a two headed bird (eagle?) which fills the whole surface.

A complete Post-medieval silver seal matrix, possibly dating to 1794-1818. The base is oval with an image of a bird in the centre facing right with a sprig in its beak, above this is a five petalled flower, the inscription around the outside reads 'HENRY HVNT'. the base tapers to become a short hexagonal shaft which terminates in a flat open work trefoil shaped knop which has a single molded collar at its base.
The finders have traced a Henry Hunt, 1794-1818, who had Loughborough connections and was involved in the Peterloo massacre. The imagery of the matrix suggests it could be of this date?
Length 22mm, width 14mm, weight 6.14g.

Medieval silver seal matrix. The object has a trilobed terminal which joins a hexagonal section shaft. The shaft widens to contain a circular matrix. This is formed of a central motif with inscription S'ARAZENTE. The motif has a solid circular border which contains a six pointed, star like, border with Gothic trilobed decoration in the spaces formed between the two borders. Inside this is a Crowned Gothic M, probably representing the Virgin Mary.
Object recorded from a photograph so no measurements or weights are currently available.

Post medieval silver seal matrix 11mm long, 10mm wide and 5mm thick. The object is in fair condition, missing its suspension loop and weighs 1.27grams. The matrix is circular in form and sub triangular in section with a fluted hexagonal shaft, now incomplete. The seal is formed of a beaded border containing a hand, with a possible ruffed sleeve, holding a three flowered stem. The shape and the design suggest it is probably 17th century in date.

The design suggests it may be connected with Charles II and his marriage to Catherine of Braganza in 1662. Although the wings are not a common motif for these objects, the bleeding heart and the crown suggest a link.
As the object is made of silver and is over 300 years old, it constitutes potential Treasure under the stipulations of The Treasure Act 1996.

Silver seal matrix with fluted handle and integral suspension loop with cusped outline of Gothic form. The die is deeply engraved with a shield of arms which is difficult to read even under strong magnification, but appears to be two lions passant with their tails along their backs, within a double pearled border framing a band of scrolling foliage. The arms resemble the three lions conventionally found on the arms of England from c1195, but with two rather than three. The form of the handle and the style of the engraving suggest an early post-medieval date (the die has been rejected as medieval by the relevant curator) possibly early 16th Century date.
