Medieval copper alloy seal matrix, Length: 33 mm, width: 21 mm, thickness 4 mm, weight: 8.48 g. The matrix is pointed-oval and is a flat rectangle in cross-section. It has a small semi-circular loop, 8mm long, with circular hole on the edge of its reverse. The surface has a motif in good condition showing a Pelican in her Piety, feeding three chicks in a nest on a pole, which has fleur-like projections at each side. Post Medieval copper alloy seal matrix, 15mm long, 137mm wide and 7mm thick. The object is in fair condition with a patina and weighs 2.42grams. The object is oval in form and has a central oval sectioned shaft emerging from the centre of the reverse, which has snapped off. The matrix consists of a raised circle with four points coming off at right angles. in between these are curving lines or rays and the whole is surrounded by a raised border.

The object consists of an oval seal matrix consisting of a crest- three barrels seperated by a chevron. This is attached to a sub circular shaft which terminates in a trefoil handle with three circular voids around a central 'keyhole' void.

Medieval copper alloy seal matrix, 20mm in diameter and 4mm thick. The object is in fair condition with a brown patina and has some areas of exposed green corrosion around its edges. The object is circular and has a design of a stags head with very large antlers in its centre. This is surrounded by a border inscription which can't be read as parts are missing but it does begin with a small greek cross. The reverse is plain except for a circular loop against one edge this is 6mm deep and 2.5 mm wide.

The matrix is oval in form and is attcahed to a tapering circular sectioned shaft. This terminates with a trefoil shaped handle which has a circular cut out in each lobe and a central 'keyhole' shaped hole. the seal consists of teh initials PG flanking a flower or plant stem.

Post Medieval copper alloy seal/ pipe tamper? 44mm long 22mm wide and 12mm thick with a weight of 5.84 grams. The object consists of a signet ring style loop which has a circular shaft with a circular flat base, suggestive of a pipe tamper. The loop has a flat plate which contains a seal matrix forming the initials RG with a star like motif in the field above and below it.

It is decorated with a lion? and a griffin? , which seem to be fighting. It is inscribed *S'ALEXANDR[E?]PIGOT. Its reverse has a small circular loop sitting on a raised rectangular band.

Undated copper alloy object, 34mm long and 23mm wide. The object is in a fair condition with a grey patina and weighs 50.75 grams. The object consists of a thick walled cylinder which has bumps and ridges on its outer surface. The object is hollow at one end and at the other is enclosed. This end is decorated with an incised cross made up of four Lis. This is contained within a border which may have an inscription ? It is reminiscent of a jetton and may date to the same period. It seems to be some sort of roughly made seal matrix.

Medieval copper-alloy seal matrix of pointed-oval shape, 30mm long, 18mm wide, 1mm thick and weighing 5.55g. The object is in fair condition, having damaged edges, and has a brown patina. The central motif is a lion rampant facing right on the matrix (so would be facing left on the impression), surrounded by a border groove outside which is an inscription 4mm wide. The seal is oval in form, with pointed teminals, and rectangular in section. It has a small semi-circular suspension loop and its surface has been slightly corroded making an impression difficult. It appears to have a motif that includes a bird, a sub rectangular depression may be a torso? and it may show tail feathers? The seal has an inscription, but it is too worn to read.

The object is lentoid (pointed oval) in form and has an inscribed border reading S' (seal of) S' ThOME DE STEVETVN . The central motif consists of a bird of prey with outstretched wings and talons out. The reverse has a central semi-circular sectioned rib which widens towards a semi-circular pierced lug. Steveton possibly references Stewton in Lincolnshire.

The matrix consists of a circular plate which sits at the end of an hexagonal sectioned tapering shaft with an integral susepnsion loop. The surface and edges are worn, making the lettering difficult to read. The central image appears to be a rabbit positioned just off centre, the other motif next to it my be a predatory bird? Malcolm Jones has kindly provided the inscription which should read SOHOV SOHOV.
