Post Medieval copper alloy hawking whistle, 72mm long, 38mm wide and 12mm thick with a weight of 45.28g. The object is sub triangular in form and rectangular in cross section and consists of three sections. Firstly is a circular cross sectioned hollow whistle with a semi-circular air hole in its upper surface. On the opposite to the hole is a rectangular cross sectioned shaft which is broken off and the break has the traces of part of a centrally placed circular hole. Undated copper alloy wheel part, 47mm long, 43mm wide and 3-6mm thick. The object is in good condition with a green/brown patina and weighs 116 grams. The object is shaped like half a tube, rectangular in form and semi-circular in section. Each end has a raised lip c.4mm deep. Its external face has three distinct surfaces, the central one has a rectangular recess and appears to be designed to hold the object in place. One side of the object, around the lip, has clear signs of wear, consistant with rotation and the whole of the inner surface has been worn smooth.

The weight is marked with the ewer of the London founders company who issued the weights and has what appears to be a crown minus the monarchs initial? The shape of the weight and the marks fit with the smaller ones issued between 1590 and 1826, but without an initial its not datable.

Undated copper alloy weight, 42mm long, 12mm wide and 5mm thick with a weight of 8.97g. The weight is ovoid in form and sub rectangular in cross section and has an integral ovoid suspenion loop at one end. The opposite end elongates slightly, forming a tear drop shape. The object has been roughly cast and whilst it is probably a weight, this cannot be confirmed. The surface has been affected by iron staining due to the presence of large amounts of ironstone in the ground. The colour otherwise could suggest a medieval or later date.

This example has a damaged upper surface, but a crown stamp is visible, this could date it to any time in teh post medieval period.

The lettering appears to be Georgian/Victorian and suggests the weight has been re-cycled and re-issued for local use?

It weighs just under 1 ounce, which was issued as a new weight standard from 1826. This one is from the reign of William IV, dating it to 1830-7.

It consists of a sub-rectangular tapering leg which has a base set at a 45 degree angle. at the top of the leg is a rectangular section of a rectangular sectioned plate/vessel, which appears to have one finished edge. This and the angle suggest it may be a trivet foot rather than part of a vessel.

Medieval copper alloy pot leg, 47mm long, 13mm wide and 15mm deep. The object is in fair condition with a brown patina and weighs 40.14 grams. It has a rectangular section, but its 'front, two corners have been cut away giving it six sides and a rounded appearance. The object tapers in width from top to bottom leaving it with a width of 6mm and a thickness of 8mm. Its upper surface slopes backwards and sideways at a slight angle, this and its 'decoration' on one side suggests it is a pot leg.

Medieval copper alloy object, possibly a pot leg, 71mm long, 24mm wide and 21mm thick. The object is in poor condition with a green/black patina and weighs 81 grams. In its present form it has an outer triangular section and an inner circular one. It tapers outwards down its central ridge and also thickens. It is incomplete and has a lot of damage to its edges but it does appear to be a pot leg.

Late Medieval copper alloy vessel foot, 60mm long, 19mm wide and 15mm thick. The object is in fair condition with a green patina and weighs 52.67grams. The object is leg shaped with a sub rectangular section, tapering down to a rounded triangular shaped foot, which is seperated from the leg by a rib running across it. The object is very similar to eg. 14193, p.2810 in Archaeology of York, 17/15 the small finds, which gives it a late medieval date and identifies it as a foot from either a skillet or a tripod ewer.

The object is very similar to fig 459, p.164 Egan, G. et al, 'The Medieval Household' which is dated 1400-1450.
