Roman? copper alloy pin head, 10mm long and 8mm wide and deep. The object is in fair condition with a brown patina and weighs 1.25grams. The pinhead consists of a solid sqaure which has had its corners cut away. each face is decorated with an incised dot and ring. There is part of a circular sectioned shaft, which tapers slightly in width.

Early Medieval copper alloy hair pin, 26mm long, 6mm wide 3mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 1.63 grams. It consists of a circular sectioned shaft which gradually becomes flattened and terminates in a flat edge. There is a circular hole just below the upper edge. The pin is missing its tip and is bent.

It consists of a circular shaft, 4mm in diameter, which is centrally decorated with three incised loops, 15mm apart. The pin head is in the form of a bird, either a chicken or a dove? Roman copper alloy hair pin, post 250 (Colchester Archaeological Report 2, pp. 29, Fig. 29.490). The object is in a good condition, corroded to a minimum, but the pin is bent to almost a right angle and appears to be incomplete. The pinhead consists of a solid sqaure which has had its corners cut away. Each face is decorated with an incised dot and ring. Lenght: 41mm; Width: 9mm; Thickness: 9mm; Weight: 3.67g. Found before 1990.

Roman copper alloy hair pin. The object is of unusual shape and therefore difficult to date in detail; no similar record has been found. The object is incomplete, only the terminal and approximately 10mm of pin survives. The terminal is in form of animal head with three rings beneath and a crescent over it. The crescent appears to be decorated in linear relief. The object is in fair condition, with corroded surface. length: 36mm, width: 11mm, thickness: 10mm, weight: 5.71g. Found before 1990.

Its upper portion flattens out gradually and forms a rectangular flat head with a circular hole near the top. It terminates with two flat oval projections emerging from its flat upper edge. The object is probably Roman, but may also be Post Medieval?

Roman copper alloy hair pin, 30mm in length, 7mm in diameter (at head), with a weight of 1.96g. The pin consists of a conical head with a raised rounded collar at is widest point. It then tapers into the circular cross sectioned shaft which begins with a 3 mm diameter and tapers down to 1.5mm. The upper part of the pin head is decorated with a triangular incised pattern. It is similar to Cool's group 10 'knob head with grooved triangular decoration' pin. Archaeological Journal, 147, 1990.

Roman copper alloy hair pin, 76mm in length, and 5mm in diameter at the swelling, with a weight of 6.65grams. The object consists of a circular head with a semi-circular cross section, 8mm in diameter and 5mm high. This sits above a circular cross sectioned pin which swells towards its centre an dthen tapers towards a point. It has been bent slightly near its tip. The pin can be classed as Cool group 1, having a knob head type E, and with a swelling on the upper part of the shaft, This is a type common in East Anglia. Cool (1990), Archaeology Journal 147.
