Medieval copper alloy two piece book clasp of Howsam type A.1.1, with hinged plate and loop, 265mm long, 7mm wide and 45mm thick. The object is in a fair condition with a dark brown patina and weighs 2.14grams. The object consists of a two-piece ractangular plate which has a small rectangular protrusion in the centre of its upper edge and is recessed at the other end to allow for a hinge. Medieval copper alloy book clasp of Howsam type A.1.3, 28mm long 20mm wide and 5mm thick. The clasp is in fair condition with a brown patina and weighs 4.45grams.
The clasp consists of a central sub-circular plate with a central circular hole. To one side of the plate is a rectangular protrusion which is transversely pierced. On the opposite side are the traces of two circular hinge loops which would originally have held a bar. The upper surface appears to have traces of relief decoration, but the whole clasp is very corroded.

Book clasp of possible early-medieval date, 56mm long, 21mm wide and 3mm thick. The object is made from a single piece of copper alloy, is in fair condition and weighs 11.06g.
It consists of a flat plate which has three elements. One end is trapezoidal, flaring to a wider rectlinear end which is split to hold a strap. Its upper surface is divided into four panels by a diagonal cross. Post Medieval copper alloy hooked object, perhaps a book clasp. 27 mm long, 17mm wide and 1mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 3.49grams. The object is rectangular with two circular fixing holes in its lower scalloped edge and a 'hook' formed of a short rectangular protrusion on its upper edge. Medieval copper alloy book fitting or clasp, 1200-1500. The object is rectangular in from and cross section with a rounded projection and pointed shaft at one end. The rounded projection has a central circualr hole for fixing and is attached to the main body with a recessed collar. The central section has a medial ridge running to a centrally placed circular hole, which sits on a transverse ridge and beyond this the object is flat and has a rectangular hole close to its edge.

Medieval copper alloy book clasp of Howsam type A.1.1, 14mm long and 9mm wide. The object is in a good condition with a brown patina and weighs 1.19g. It consists of a domed, rounded plate with a hole in its centre and a protruding stub of a knop on its outer side. The other side is attached to a hinged mechanism which consists of an oval protrusion, holding a circular bar, the other oval protrusion is missing. The bar would originally have held a copper-alloy plate.

Fragment of copper alloy book clasp of Howsam type A.9.2, 44mm high and 22mm wide and 6mm thick. The object is a composite piece with clear joins. It has a loop still intact, and under the loop the object is about 5mm wide and continues for 20mm with a prominent ridge running down the front. It then widens and at this point into a diamond shape, this is 22mm wide and contains a square which is in slight relief. The rest of the object is missing.

Medieval copper alloy strap end book clasp, 71mm long, 25mm wide and 10mm high. The object is made up of two sections, the first is a diamond shape 10mm high and 25mm wide. Thhis is decorated with a square 'flower' which has a series of incised lines in its centre. emerging from this is a decorative shaft, which splits and encloses one point of the diamond and then terminates in a suspension loop. Medieval copper alloy book clasp of Howsam type A.1.3. 38mm in length, 25mm wide and 5mm thick with a weight of 14.80g.
The object has a rectangular open loop or slot forming its base, and above this is a flat triangular plate with scalloped edges. These have slight linear indentations starting between the curves on its edge and running towards its centre. Here there is a circular hole, c.3mm wide. The clasp terminates in a transversely placed circular loop at its apex.
The object is similar to SUSS-D911D3, HESH-3E44E3 and DOR-CDD036, which have been dated to AD 1350-1500.

The object is sub rectangular in form and cross section and consists of a rectangular shaft which is missing its lower side. This is inscribed with cross hatched Gothic lettering which is surrounded by a solid border. The lettering probably reads ihc. Post Medieval copper alloy hinged fitting, possibly a book clasp. The object consists of two openwork plates, each with two rivet holes, joined at a hinge. The plates are now lying parallel and the hinge no longer moves as it is covered in iron corrosion, suggesting the presence of an iron pin. The surface of the object is light green with patches of light brown corrosion, mostly at the hinged end. The object appears to have been tinned. Some small extremities are missing due to minor breaks.
