Early Medieval copper alloy gilded mount, c. 28mm long and 32mm wide. The object is in poor condition with an irregular edge and is sub triangular in form and rectangular in cross section. It appears to be incomplete probably broken across its narrower straight edge. From there the objects sides widen outwards and terminate in a curved outer edge, giving it an axe shape.
