Unidentified copper alloy L shaped object, 31mm in length, 22mm wide and 8mm thick with a weight of 7.41grams. The object appears to be incomplete and consists of a sub circular faceted shaft, with a vertical depression running across is 'front' face near its base. Below this are two sub circular depressions, one at each edge, and below this is a projection at right angles which has a D shaped cross section and a small raised collar across its curved upper surface, just under half way across its extant length. Beyond this the object tapers and terminates in a rounded end.

The object consists of a circular cross sectioned shaft with an integral suspension loop at its end and a central raised collar with raised border at each edge. Below this is a further plain collar sitting above a circular loop with a rectangular cross section. The outer face is divided into two by a central depression with a rounded linear surface which continues down the side with the inner surafce being flat. This suggets two circular sectioned rings joined together. The function of this object is unknwon. It may be a large finger ring? or another type of decorative ring. It could date from the Bronze age onwards.

The object consists of a D shaped frame with rounded underside and flat upper surface. It has two sub rectangular raised borders which run from the recessed circular sectioned bar on the flat edge; to the centre of the rounded portion, leaving a small central flat surface resembling a pin rest. Roman or Medieval copper alloy belt fitting, Either a buckle plate or a stiffener, 31mm long, 11.5mm wide and 0.5mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 1.15grams. It is rectangular in form and has circular holes in each corner, two are complete and two are partially, sitting along a broken edge. The object has slightly tapering sides but has no signs of any decoration. Its wide date range reflects the fact that it was found in close proximity to a Roman town site, but it could equally be Medieval.

unknown object, 38mm long, 20mm wide and 2mm thick. the object is in fair condition and weighs 6.01grams. It consists of a rectangular sectioned shaft, 10mm long, which has a slightly rounded upper surface. This terminates with a rectangular shaped plate, 20mm x 18mm, which has two semi-circular nicks removed from its outer edge, forming and edge which looks like a three pronged fork. The reverse of the shaft is flat and has a rectangular scar in its centre, which could be from a catch plate?

Undated copper alloy strap fitting, Length: 55 mm, width: 15 mm, thickness: 11 mm, weight: 40.61g. The object is incomplete and is sub rectangular in form and cross section. It consists of a upper bar with an undulating upper surface which curves round at one end then is broken, suggesting an oval shape when intact. The upper surface has a triangular projection at one end then a slight depression followed by a sub rectangular projection with transverse incised lines at each edge. The object appears to be some sort of slide or harness fitting .

Undated copper alloy casting waste? One small casting droplet and a sub rectangular piece of worn metal. Left to right in photo L W T Wgt 17 15 6 2.42 30 28 6 32.43 These were found together and not far away form other signs of metal working recorded as LEIC-99FD63 which suggest signs of metal processing.

It has an upper part formed of two circular plates, the smaller on top of the larger. Below this the object has tapering sides which then merge into three sub triangular shaped, rectangular cross sectioned 'legs' the object is undecorated but is of a good quality copper alloy. It may be a terminal for a hollow handle or similar?

Roman copper alloy brooch of Colchester derivative Polden Hill (flat wing ends type), cf. Mackreth 2011, 4.l. pg. 74, Plate 48. It is 51mm long, 18mm wide and 11mm deep. The object is in fair condition with a brown patina and weighs 8.83grams. The brooch has short hollow wings with a semi-circular hole to hold a spring bar. Roman copper alloy plain hinged bow brooch, 26mm long, 22mm wide and 7mm deep. The object is in fair condition with a brown patina and weighs 2.98grams. The brooch has circular sectioned solid wings which sit above the bow at an angle and form a central rectangualr void, presumambly where the hinge fitted. The bow is triangular in section and is slightly curved. There is no sign of decoration on the brooch and no catchplate or pin present.

Roman copper alloy disc brooch, 22mm in diameter and 2mm thick (6mm at catchplate). The object is in fair condition with a green/brown patina and weighs 3.64grams.
