A part of early Roman copper alloy military horse harness pendant (Bishop and Coulston 2006, Fig. 70) or a peltate mount (Appels and Laycock 2007, pp. 126). Very similar object, described as military harness pendant, is recorded in the Portable Antiquities and Treasure Annual Report 2008, no 93, and dated to AD 43-100. Due to corrosion the original shape is hard to determine, however it appears that the object might represent an oak leaf with acorn terminals (Appels and Laycock 2007 Fig. AA14.15 and AA14.16). Roman copper alloy harness pendant, 50mm long, 16mm wide and 7mm thick. The object is in fair condition and weighs 11.56grams. The object is a drop form pendant which would have been suspendedfrom a horse harness. It consisits of a circular sectioned suspension loop sitting above a circular sectioned stepped collar. Below this theobject has a circular sectioned shaft which widens towards the centre before narrowing to a spherical knop terminal.
